2 | Celebrations of 8th International Day of Yoga at IIT Bombay |
The Yogastha Club of IIT Bombay organised the 8th edition of the International Day of Yoga (2022) on June 21, 2022 at the Indoor Badminton Court, (Opposite to Hostel 2) on IIT Bombay campus. The theme for 2022 International Day of Yoga 2022 was ‘Yoga for Humanity.’ The Chief Guest was renowned neurosurgeon and yoga therapist Dr. Mayur V. Kaku. Dean (Student Affairs) Prof. T. Kundu and Registrar Mr. Ganesh Borkhade graced the occasion. More than 200 people participated in IDY including students, faculty, staff and their family members. 3 | Celebrations of 7th International Day of Yoga at IIT Bombay |
The International Day of Yoga is celebrated worldwide on June 21 every year to raise awareness about the importance and impact of yoga on the health of people. The term 'yoga' is derived from Sanskrit word “Yuja” which means to unite, representing the unification of body and consciousness. At IIT Bombay too, this day has always been celebrated with grandeur and glory. Since everything is being organised online in view of the pandemic, the Yogastha Club has too shifted the festivities online. The countdown to IDY started 100 days back. Many events like workshops, scientific talks, yogathon practice sessions, quizzes, online yoga challenges and competitions are being organised. The main IDY event would be graced by Dr H.R. Nagendra. Chancellor, S-VYASA and Dr Hansaji Yogendra, Director, the Yoga Institute. Major events include the Common Yoga Protocol in the morning and the 108 Surya Namaskar Challenge in the evening. This will be followed by numerous activities, namely Yogathon cool down session, workshop and e-conference in the succeeding days. IDY witnesses huge participation from students, faculty, staff and all IIT Bombay campus residents. The entire Yogastha Team is excited for this and the IIT Bombay community is enthusiastic to participate and is looking forward to celebrating and commemorating this event with lots of fanfare, euphoria and mirth.
